We're #1!

Yay!  California has the highest state income tax rate in the entire country!

Perhaps I'd be more proud if we had the best roads, the best water storage, the best dams, the best schools, the best....

High taxes and the housing crisis is certainly making things difficult. I'm considering moving out if things get even worse.

Sorry to hear that, but not surprised. My brother in law retired from State of California at 55 and has been living a more than comfortable lifestyle at Palos Verde. I have a feeling that like many of pension plans, California employees are in for a big shock. Nobody's been asking Sacramento how money's being spent for years now---that lack of oversight paired with rampant spending for liberal causes will have consequences.
